Teatro Nacional - Costa Rica's national theatre is a MUST SEE building and they have some quite good performances - but alas - they're not usually so cheap for one on a budget (though they're LOTS cheaper than they'd be in the States!!!!) -

EXCEPT . . .
they offer 3 series of performances each week (February-November on average) that range from just

FREE to 1,000-colones or 2,000-colones

making going to the theatre and getting some culture AFFORDABE!!   

This is an incredible way to see this magnificent theater and rub elbows with ALL types of locals and tourists!! 

Hey - why not get dressed up and get some friends together and do lunch before or after!!

(I think these often are held OUTSIDE the main theatre in a foyer)

(forget street parking here - for security sake and because it's almost nonexistent - it's best to park in a Parquo - Parking Garage [which are not all that cheap!!])
