New Corporate Tax Changes - DEADLINES & Changes!!

The new rules for the Corporate Tax are STILL not totally firm and are pending judicial action - meaning they still MAY alter the rules.  There are 3 important dates coming in the implementation of the new corporate tax.

Corporations have until:

•    ONLY until JUNE 30th to DISSOLVE their corporation withOUT paying the tax

•    September 30th to transfer to individuals assets tax free (???)

•    March 2014 for legal representatives to resign their offices through notarized documents filed with the registry.
(I take it they mean board members that want to get off the corporation.  Are there any fees involved with this and/or adding the proper amount of board members once that person leaves?  Hmmm - I wonder - if they don't and even if the corporation shares have been turned over to one person [as is the case or MANY inactive corporations I've known about] - will these individuals be responsible to pay these taxes?  And if so, can there be repercussions to them on ANY level [like can they be prevented from doing anything like filing for other corporations, etc.???])

HELP ME UNDERSTAND  -  VICKI'S  QUESTIONS•THOUGHTS:
What is it with Costa Rica that sometimes they change laws and then give you only a few days/short period of time to do the action???  Like with this new CHANGE in the law for Corporate Taxes (that STILL isn't firm/in writing yet I believe) - before the change has even taken effect - they're saying that as of this June 19 post you ONLY have 11 days to dissolve your corporation without having to pay taxes on it - otherwise it's $150+ in taxes you have to pay for EACH IN-active corporation PLUS you HAVE to pay to dissolve it - OR - you'll have to pay the tax on EACH of the even inactive corporations PLUS penalties.  I imagine you won't be able to sell them either until all that's paid up.

Is it just me that's going "WTH?"  With a country where MANY people have MULTIPLE corporations/S.A.'s to cover their tush from suing/theft, etc. - to protect your assets/self from being taken, MANY believe you should have individual corporations for your car, employees on a separate corporation (I'm talking maids and gardeners, etc. ESPECIALLY in a country where employees WILL take you to the cleaners - even if THEY were the initial theft as bottom line is EMPLOYEES are protected - RARELY the boss), a separate one for your home, a separate one for your business(es) . . . and MANY of the people that have these multiple corporations do NOT LIVE in Costa Rica and added with it being a time of year few are in country - how are they going to let them know since in Costa Rica - they hardly ever notify people DIRECTLY of ANYTHING let alone such IMPORTANT things!!!!  Of course they post it wherever it is they do - but come on - WHO REALLY reads all those posts/that publication?  Few people read ANY news source since there's rarely much TRULY HELPFUL information in them or lots of incomplete information!!

Tomorrow is another day and in Costa Rica - it all could be out the window - that's why I don't usually worry about things TILL they're LAW and even then - since OFTEN those are modified or even thrown out - I take many things with a grain of salt!!!

Those are just MY thoughts - for ME!!  YOU have to do what feels right for YOU!!!
