STARBUCKS Coffee NOW in Costa Rica at Avenida Escazu

(Ms. Volunteer Costa Rica - Gail Nystrom with http://CRHF.org was one of the first 100 customers!!  Looks like she scored some goodies!!)

Costa Rica FINALLY has what will be the first of what looks like to be a few in the future Starbucks and it's in my backyard - Escazu!!  They opened their first one this past Wednesday - June 20, 2012 in AVENIDA ESCAZU!!!!  I heard they had a BIG crowd including some guys that started lining up at 4am!!

FEATURING:  One of the blends they're using is from Costa Rica - it's from the coffee plantation Bella Vista in Tres Rios (I recall recently reading that not much of Starbucks coffee is from Costa Rica!!  Hmmmmm!!!)

PRICES:  Like with all Starbucks - it ain't cheap.  Small/8 oz. start at 1,100-colones/$2.20ish and Large start at 1,700-colones/$3.40.  Craving a Cappuchino?  I hear that's only 300-colones more on a small!

HOURS:  Sunday-Thursday - 7am-11pm.  Friday and Saturday - 7am-midnight.

*LOCATION:  From off the AutoPista Prospero Fernandez (aka Pista del Sol and a BUNCH of other names) - if coming from San Jose - get off at the FIRST Exit AFTER the Toll Plaza.  Go forward, passing Plaza Itzkazu and looping around back under the pista, passing MultiPlaza, Office Depot, PriceSmart and CIMA hospital and Avenida Escazu* is located one block East of CIMA

OTHER UNofficial Starbucks Costa Rica Facebook Pages:
(they named it the "official" one but description says they're not - FOOLS!!)

(Gail and Rosemary SOOOO EXCITED to be one of the first in!!)

NOTES:  Didn't I see awhile ago that Starbucks NO LONGER gets much of their coffee from Costa Rica??  Also, I find it interesting that they opened a Farmers Support Center in Columbia to help the farmers.  Is this something Costa Rica might want to look at - WHY not Costa Rica???  Is Costa Rica out-pricing themselves?

*AVENIDA ESCAZU

Avenida Escazu is also home to one of my FAVORITE places in Costa Rica and especially Escazu:

NOVA CINEMA
http://LivingLifeInCostaRica.blogspot.com/2012/02/nova-cinemas-vip-and-imax-movie.html

Home to Costa Rica's only iMax giant movie screen and the FABULOUS VIP Movie Theatre(S - there are 2 of them!!)!!  The VIP Theatre has a VIP Lounge with a full bar and some food stands with things like sushi, panini's and you can even order from the Nova Sports Bar and Restaurant next door!!!  In the movie theatre you sit (more like lounge) in BIG leather electric recliners (that go almost all the way down) and waiters actually come in and SERVE you while you're watching the movie!!   This is another great excuse to experience BOTH!!)
