Wind Turbine - Costa Rica NEEDS THIS!!! Bridge Transforms Italian Viaduct Into Public Space

Wouldn't this be PERFECT for Costa Rica?  A way they can step up and show some innovation with the environment • sustainability!!

WAYYYY SMART and CONSCIOUS!!!  Costa Rica could REALLY SHINE on this!!!

I think we ALL should all SERIOUSLY post notes of encouragement with this link:

Bridge Transforms Italian Viaduct Into Public Space

A bridge that re-purposes abandoned viaducts, produces energy AND looks futuristically sleek? Yes, it can be true, and it is Italy’s proposed Wind Turbine Viaduct called “Solar Wind.” Southern Italy is dotted with unused viaducts, and rather than spending $50 million to tear them down, town officials near Calabria held a competition called “Solar Park South,” open to designers and engineers asking them to come up with an environmentally conscious way to re-use the existing structures.

The Solar Wind concept — designed by Francesco Colarossi, Giovanna Saracino and Luisa Saracino, who together make up Coffice — would add 26 wind turbines to an existing viaduct in south Italy, which the designers say could generate 36 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year. The turbines would be placed in the space between the existing viaduct’s pillars.

The designers also propose to place a park across the top of the viaduct which would feature solar greenhouses and panoramic viewpoints. The outer carriageway would remain accessible by vehicles, but the tarmac would be substituted with solar panels comprised of a dense grid of solar cells covered with highly resistant plastic — just like the solar roadways proposed in the GE Ecomagination Challenge.
