PAINT - Where can you find CHEAP PAINT for the inside or outside of your house or roofs in Costa Rica??!!!

House Paint (indoors and outdoors) or Roof Paint can be QUITE EXPENSIVE in Costa Rica and the quality isn’t always as good as we North Americans are used to so seriously, try not to go for the cheapo cans - as you OFTEN WILL get what you paid for and you might have problems (the biggest one I've noticed with the cheap paint is it fading/streaking pretty fast!!!)!!
 

So how does one avoid the high expense of paint when living in Costa Rica?  Especially when you HAVE to have a bunch?? 

Did you know that THE MAIN paint manufacturer•store in Costa Rica - Pintura Sur - has an OUTLET store - where the public can buy paint - sometimes at a GREATLY REDUCED price??!!

Like any outlet - you never know what they’re going to have and it tends to be less popular colors/items, or overstock or say someone had paint left over from a big job.  Not everything is priced great AND it still carries the Full warranty (which is different based on the type of paint you purchase).


When my friend Laurel went (March 3, 2014), she got:
Water Based Polyurethane Anti-Corrosive paint (for roofs) for JUST 12,000 for 5 GALLONS (granted it was in a less popular color - dark brown) and the nicer more popular colors were 28,000 for a 5 gallon can.  House Paints were around 28,000 for 5 gallons (Sherman Williams had something similar for 13,000 a GALLON!!

LOCATION:

La Uruca.  On Calle 38 (the main street in La Uruca but I don’t there there is any sign indicating it’s Calle 38 [ahhhh - life in Costa Rica!!]).  Note you won’t see it from the street as it’s hidden back in their warehouse complex where they’re loading the trucks, etc.*.
WAAZUP:  Enter “Sur Clinica”

I’ll give you a few sets of directions from:
Cosevi (where you go to get your drivers license +++) - the Sur Outlet is 100 meters West and 150 meters South of Cosevi
Yamaha dealership:  150-ish meters South•Sur and see instructions for “Property” below.
Cemetary•CementerioEscazu (the highway) - get off at the end at the light - turn RIGHT (there’s a Chinese or Japanese car dealer right there on the corner) and it is about 125 meters on your Right.
San Jose - At the Yamaha dealer - turn LEFT•South at the light and it’s ABOUT 125 meters on your RIGHT

*PROPERTY:

It’s a warehouse area so look for the sign that says “Bodega de Despacho SUR Química - Outlet”.  Tell the Security Guard you’re there for the Outlet (it’s the same word in Spanish) and go all the way back and it’s on your RIGHT.
