LOST & FOUND in Costa Rica

A friend found something in Costa Rica and tried to return it to a "Lost and Found" but was unable to find such a thing.

Evidently, from what I've found, in Español it looks like IF you can find one, it has a very different name.

It's called:
"Oficina de objetos perdidas"
which translates basically to the
"Bureau of Lost Objects"

Anyone know of another word or phrase for it?
Is the concept of a "Lost and Found"
"A lost and found (American English and Canadian English), lost property (British English), or lost articles (also Canadian English) is an office in a large public building or area where visitors can go to retrieve lost articles that may have been found by other visitors"
SOURCE:  en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_and_found
not common in Costa Rica??

What happens to things people accidentally leave behind??

Any ideas•thoughts on that??  Add them to the "Comments" below!
