BRING BRING BRING some batteries!! THEY SUCK in Costa Rica!!!! I
borrowed Lavinia's camera the other day for a couples days. Day #1 I
took MAYBE a dozen pictures and the camera kept flashing like the
batteries were going out. Day #2 I took 5 pics and DEAD! #3 I went
to a store and bought 4 more because they were only like 400 colones
each and they were Panasonic. Came home, put them in the camera - 1 pic
- DEAD! Tried the other set of batteries - DEAD!! Went to ANOTHER store and bought their best batteries - DEAD in 12 pictures!!
Batteries are UBBER $$$$ in Costa Rica!!!
OVER and OVER and
OVER again, when it talks about quality of products purchased in Costa
Rica, MANY people have shared the SAME sentiments•experiences with me - that the
QUALITY of items purchased in Costa Rica (the IMPORTED things) OFTEN do
NOT LAST AS LONG as in other countries we've lived in.
THE
REASON MOST PEOPLE I'VE KNOWN HAVE SHARED THEY FEEL FOR WHY MANY
PRODUCTS NOT MADE IN COSTA RICA DON'T LAST AS LONG OR WORK AS WELL?
#1 - MOST of these items DO seem to be "Made in China" - need I say more.
#2
- (and probably REALLY #1) - As a culture•country, MOST (I'm sure not
"all" though I haven't met a lot that were as willing to TRULY speak
their truth as I'M used to. This is NOT considered an insult - it's
just a FACT!) - Costa Rican's (aka Tico's) are VERY VERY
NON-Confrontational!! I can't say I've seen many Tico's returning things - even dishes they didn't order at a restaurant in my 8 years living here. When MANY (NOT all!!) American's get a faulty item or dish at a restaurant, they OFTEN (NOT always) return it - or worse!!
IF it were me I'd buy a big package of RECHARGE-ABLE batteries (and a battery charger of course) and use those!!
Pricesmart has Duracell jumbo value packs of 40 "AA" and "AAA" for 5000 colones. Same ones we get at Costco in Canada or the USA.
