I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.

POOR FAMILIES NEIGHBORHOOD BURNT OUT - they NEED YOUR HELP!!!


On February 27, 2014 - 31 families in Guarari, Heredia (a neighborhood made up of many shacks near the Paseo de las Flores Mall), consisting of 106 adults and 35 kids, LOST ALL their material items - EVERYTHING they own to a fire.

I challenge you to go through your stuff, if you live anywhere nearby, and donate to this cause.

These people did not have much to begin with, but starting from nothing is pretty darn tough.


We ALL have "stuff" we're no longer using and can stand to let go!!  PLEASE DONATE IT - everything from household items, furniture, appliances, food, school supplies, clothes for ALL size from baby+, cleaning items, personal hygiene items, shoes, toys++++!!!

The Heredia Police station and the Cruz Roja•Red Cross are accepting donations.

I'm leaving for Nicaragua tomorrow so I can not do anything more than share this here - BUT - perhaps people can call their local Cruz Roja's and ask them if they will be a collection point for people to drop off donations (though someone NEEDS to also GIVE THEM SOME MONEY FOR GAS to take it over!!!)
