ABOUT THE LIVING LIFE IN COSTA RICA BLOG

I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.
VOLUNTEER TO HELP:
Better yet - do you have extra time on your hands & looking for a volunteer project? Since this blog is a labor of love & RARELY does anyone share a donation (even though MANY have said how much it's helped them), I could REALLY use help updating info. Spanish speakers ESPECIALLY welcome since my VicLish can be somewhat limited at times!!

DONATE:
Has my blog helped in any way? Helped find something•brought more EASE? More exposure or business?
I welcome you to show YOUR appreciation for my efforts!
ANY size DONATION is APPRECIATED!
(see below other ways to show your appreciation)
The easiest way is with PAYPAL - Attn: LivingLifeInCostaRica@gmail.com

EXPRESS DELIVERIES - Ideas on how to get something delivered to you fast &/or more securely around Costa Rica

Costa Rica may not be totally up to date when it comes to EASE - BUT - when it comes to DELIVERIES - you've got options!!!!!!!!

CORREOS • POST OFFICE
First off, don't think one can not get mail delivered to them throughout Costa Rica as even in many places a bit out of the way - they often DO deliver things to them - with good directions and a good phone #!!Don't have an "Address" or you're not home all the time?
Whatever it is CAN be mailed to your local Post Office -

EVEN if you do not have a P.O. Box there!!

SERVICIO EXPRESS
Correos.go.cr/servicios/serviciosexpress

Post Office has a door-to-door shuttle service that delivers envelopes/packages
within Costa Rica and Internationally
A BIG PLUS of using this service - you're able to TRACK the item!!!

WHAT DO I DO TO SEND SOMETHING THIS WAY?

Either take it into a Correos•Post Office - OR
Call BY ___ for pickup ____(I'm STILL trying to get the answer to the above question)

BUS
All buses allow you to ship things - heck - SOMETIMES you can even get an APPLIANCE delivered to you this way!!!  I've KNOWN people that have moved boxes and boxes via a bus (ALL subject to time of year and days of the week [meaning don't even try doing this during Peak High Season times when the buses are already full - ESPECIALLY Christmas•New Years and Samana Santa and If I was sending something, I would send it Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday - slower travel days.

With this said, that usually means shipping things between your city and San Jose/the main bus station.

Depending on the frequency of the bus, if you get your package to them early enough, it can often be delivered THAT DAY.

DELIVERING:
When taking a package, make sure to bring the EXACT NAME and phone number (for SURE at LEAST their cell #) of the person receiving it - OR - it will NOT be released to them!!  MANY buses seem to be demanding that YOU PAY for the delivery up front these days from what I've heard.

RECEIVING
Make sure whomever the Receiver is has their original Passport or Cedula and the name matches (at least as close as possible).
