I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.

English Speaking TAXI DRIVERS in Costa Rica

Here the start of my list of OFFICIAL RED TAXI DRIVERS that I have used. Most of these speak some amount of English and the one’s that don’t, MY experience has been they are at least pretty trustworthy/reliable. Right now the list is predominately geared towards the Escazu area BUT it’s expanding (with YOUR HELP!?!?!) so keep checking back with my Living Life In Costa Rica site.

ALL the info is subject to change. MOST drivers are available additional expanded hours by advanced appointment. If there is an area with their name, they STILL can go to other locations - this is just where they predominately "hang".

PLEASE be VERY SPECIFIC ON YOUR NEEDS!! If you need them to be there at a SPECIFIC HOUR - BE DIRECT - TELL THEM (otherwise you may be stressin' if they're in the middle of another client and/or are in traffic. If so, YOU ASK them to help you get another driver!).

NEVER NEVER NEVER lease a voice message for a driver and expect them to call you back!! I find that MANY people in Costa Rica don't know how to use/check their FREE voice mail!!!

ALWAYS MAKE SURE THEY TURN THE
"MARIA"/METER ON!!!!!!!!!!!

(it SHOULD be at 585.0 [don't get me going on the .0 part as that confused MANY a person who gave 5,300/$10.60 vs. $1.06 and trust me, not many drivers will "enlighten" you)
