This Christmas we want to bring love, warmth and food to the homeless in our streets.
Santa en las Calle (SELC) / Santa on the Street, is a movement that began in December 2006 in Caracas, where a group of good people decided to bring Christmas to those who roam our streets with the indifference of those who went around. In 2008, this movement spread to other cities inside and outside of Venezuela, including San Jose, Costa Rica.
Its mission is to assist those most in need, homeless, primarily through the collection of goods, non-monetary, to provide them with happiness, protection and relief of their basic needs. It highlights the collection of clothes, shoes, blankets and food goods. The execution is also done through the coordination of those persons, natural or juridical, who share this goal and wish to contribute their best efforts to this end.
SELC Foundation is an organization of private and nonprofit, not associated with elements of political or religious, with the collaboration of individuals of any age and human groups, is the central objective support to people most in need through the provision of goods, non-monetary basic subsistence. To achieve its objectives, the Foundation promotes short-term activities that provide wellness through the delivery of packages with personal items and food, while preserving the dignity of the beneficiaries.
All these activities promoted by the Foundation, are scheduled with a long-term strategy with the aim of making Santa in the Streets, through effort and motivation of individuals and organizations in a movement of global impact, and massive presence and global action.
