According to the
Instituto Meteorológico Nacional – IMN
Facebook.com/InstitutoMeteorologicoNacional.Prensa • IMN.ac.cr
(the National Meteorological Institute [the weather guys]), they're predicting the 2015 Rainy Season in Costa Rica is expected to begin AROUND:Facebook.com/InstitutoMeteorologicoNacional.Prensa • IMN.ac.cr
PACIFIC - SOUTH - April 1-5-ish
PACIFIC - CENTRAL - April 26-30-ish
CENTRAL VALLEY - May 6-10-ish
PACIFIC - NORTH - May 16-20-ish
PACIFIC - CENTRAL - April 26-30-ish
CENTRAL VALLEY - May 6-10-ish
PACIFIC - NORTH - May 16-20-ish
They're saying that they expect us to be effected by El Niño this year - which means a DECREASE in rain (yikes - NOT good all around. At least Costa Rica has LOTS of green areas!).
It also looks like around October-November - the Comisión Nacional de Emergencias – CNE (the National Emergency Commission) will be installing a new Radar system in the IMN building in Barrio Aranjuez, in San José that will notify them 2 hours in advance of big downpours - though at first this will only be in the Central Valley.
I wonder if they'll notify us of this?? Maybe on their Facebook page (above)???
It will also track the speed of ash expulsion from volcanoes (not sure if that's just for the Central Valley also).
