ABOUT THE LIVING LIFE IN COSTA RICA BLOG

I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.
VOLUNTEER TO HELP:
Better yet - do you have extra time on your hands & looking for a volunteer project? Since this blog is a labor of love & RARELY does anyone share a donation (even though MANY have said how much it's helped them), I could REALLY use help updating info. Spanish speakers ESPECIALLY welcome since my VicLish can be somewhat limited at times!!

DONATE:
Has my blog helped in any way? Helped find something•brought more EASE? More exposure or business?
I welcome you to show YOUR appreciation for my efforts!
ANY size DONATION is APPRECIATED!
(see below other ways to show your appreciation)
The easiest way is with PAYPAL - Attn: LivingLifeInCostaRica@gmail.com
(you do NOT need to have a PayPal account to do this - just a credit or debit card)
ADD INFORMATION:
Do YOU have/know of a Business•Event•News•Place•Things 4 Sale•Rent to add? Email:

ANIMAL TRANSPORT - IMPORT•EXPORT
EXPORT a pet FROM Costa Rica:
PRICE:  40,000-c (includes a check up [any Shots needed - additional], taking papers to SENASA for stamp [MANY other people charge $100+]).
NOTE:  You NEED 3-4+ days to process (ideally 7 days but last minute emergency are possible with 4+ hours IF she's available but at a $$$$$ Last Minute Emergency Fee).  Having helped a few people with this in the past and with things getting more and more complicated, I think this is a WISE INVESTMENT in your sanity!!

IMPORTS - She can pick them up at the airport - price varies.
NOTE:  If pet is traveling withOUT you - because of how complicated (and $$$$$ it's gotten), it's often cheaper to pay someone's airline ticket to bring them for you.

She or other associates are available to Travel with your Pets back as well.

COMMENTS:

“Thank you! She was able to see them this morning and is definitely customer service oriented and didn't even charge me for the office visit since they had to have some shots and such. I'm glad I took them in because they were definitely in need of some attention! She's having me come back tomorrow for more shots and gave her home phone numbers to contact her in case they are doing badly. I'm very glad I found your post last night!”

I have no idea how she does it. She makes sure the animals are well cared for. They are her life. She told her mother at the age of 3, here in Santa Ana that she wanted to be a VETERINARIAN • VETERINARIO.  Anna grew up in Santa Ana and she is known for treating animals for free. People now take advantage of her kindness. She will always come to work and find boxes of Kittens and puppies or dogs tied to her gate. She can not turn them away and needs the community's support, for all she does for these poor street dogs. I have seen her love them and cry and then bury them with a tree to mark their spot.  I have also seen them get cleaned up all cute and go off to a new home.  I spent a few nights at the clinic helping her and what I saw changed me. She was there 4 days no sleep no shower laying on the floor, doing mouth to mouth to save some ones puppy.  If I were a dog, cat, bunny, bird, fish, squirrel, horse I would want Anna to be my VETERINARIAN • VETERINARIO.

COMMENT FROM ME ABOUT VETERINARIAN • VETERINARIO ANNA - BUT ALSO SOMETHING TO REMEMBER ABOUT ALL VETS:

VETERINARIAN • VETERINARIO Anna Herndon is AWESOME!  She's been there for me a few times with either helping me & coming to the house or over the phone!!

BUT, it's important to remember that as GREAT as she (& ANY vet) is, she can't always be a miracle worker & save every animal as MUCH as she tries her hardest!!

Some owners wait to take their animal to a vet when it's REALLY REALLY sick or injured - sometimes too far along to survive & then they want to blame the vet.

People regularly bring street animals into clinics expecting the vet to work on them for free & pay for the treatment out of their own pocket (how many people medical doctor would do that ever - let alone nearly EVERY day???  How many of you would work for free?).  Often animals that are beyond help having been starved or diseased beyond help!

(me - Vicki Skinner)
