ABOUT THE LIVING LIFE IN COSTA RICA BLOG

I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.
VOLUNTEER TO HELP:
Better yet - do you have extra time on your hands & looking for a volunteer project? Since this blog is a labor of love & RARELY does anyone share a donation (even though MANY have said how much it's helped them), I could REALLY use help updating info. Spanish speakers ESPECIALLY welcome since my VicLish can be somewhat limited at times!!

DONATE:
Has my blog helped in any way? Helped find something•brought more EASE? More exposure or business?
I welcome you to show YOUR appreciation for my efforts!
ANY size DONATION is APPRECIATED!

DAY OLD • END OF DAY BREAD•BAKERY GOODS DISCOUNTED • Where to find Bakery "THRIFT SHOPs"•Panadarias in Costa Rica - Bimbo Expendio • Bagelmen's

I first saw a story on Bimbo's "ExpendioDay-Old baked goods (back in MY youth, we called them "Bakery Thrift Shops") on Dolores' AWESOME blog on great deals (heavily in Grecia and San Jose but she's expanding to other areas around Costa Rica now!!!)

So when I was in Grecia I HAD to go and check it out and I've been to Bimbo Expendio a few times and found some GREAT DEALS - ESPECIALLY the Integral Bread for like 900 colones which in the market are like 1,215-c!!  I just immediately put it in the freezer (though you KNOW that processed breads seem to be able to stay out WEEKS after the expiration date!)!!

I went for this - just 2,000-c (around $4) for a BIG bag of the not so good for you cupcakes and things which I took over to Hospital San Francisco and gave to people that helped my friend I took there (trust me - being nice to people and showing appreciation goes a LONG way in life - plus it makes YOU feel good also knowing you've brought a SMILE to someone's day!!!).

Off to the little room on the side entrance they had some meats and eggs for sale also for:

It looks like there might be other BIMBO EXPENDIO locations around Costa Rica at:

Alajuela
Carretera a San Antonio del Tejar (Detras del Aeropuerto)

Cartago

Grecia
Directions:  The easiest way for me to describe it is it's on the corner off the main road at Hospital San Francisco.
wrote "Take the main road into town and go past the soccer field on your right.  You'll come to an intersection with Bar Los Pinos (pictured above) on your right.  Bimbo Expendio (pictured above) is on the left, across the street from the bar.

San Jose - Chinatown
on the West side of 9th Street somewhere between Avenida 8 and Avenida 4 (????)

Santa Rosa • Santo Domingo
