Unlike their neighboring countries of Panama and Nicaragua - Baseball - let alone Softball is SOOOO NOT popular in Costa Rica (which I think is ironic considering the exclusive supplier of baseball BALLS for Major League Baseball for over a quarter-century is Rawlings - and they are MADE IN COSTA RICA [Turrialba]!! -

It is slowly picking up and as I hear of teams•games - especially non-committal pick up type games, I'll share them here.


Hey - do you REALLY MISS the sport but perhaps aren't up to playing these days (no longer a Spring Chicken?)??  Why not help coach or teach some kids in your neighborhood???!!  Since baseball•softball are a fairly new phenomenon in Costa Rica, chances are REAL GOOD that you know LOTS more than they do!!  And do you know any baseball•softball teams back home???  How about writing them to have them do a drive to collect their old cleats, uniforms, gloves, bats, hats, whatever!!!!
