On hand will also be typical Costa Rican meals, activities, dances, concerts, marching bands, fireworks, masquerades and a 'greasy pole' contest.
The fair has been held each year since 1991 as an initiative to improve the marketing of onions and has the support of the Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganadería (MAG) - Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock and the Centro Agrícola Cantonal de Santa Ana.
The producers grow some 980 tons of onions each year and sold at farmer's markets at different points and the PIMA CENADA.
The average price received by the farmers is ¢750 colones per kilogram.
