ABOUT THE LIVING LIFE IN COSTA RICA BLOG

I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.
VOLUNTEER TO HELP:
Better yet - do you have extra time on your hands & looking for a volunteer project? Since this blog is a labor of love & RARELY does anyone share a donation (even though MANY have said how much it's helped them), I could REALLY use help updating info. Spanish speakers ESPECIALLY welcome since my VicLish can be somewhat limited at times!!

DONATE:
Has my blog helped in any way? Helped find something•brought more EASE? More exposure or business?
I welcome you to show YOUR appreciation for my efforts!
ANY size DONATION is APPRECIATED!
(see below other ways to show your appreciation)
The easiest way is with PAYPAL - Attn: LivingLifeInCostaRica@gmail.com

MOVING • PACKING MATERIALS • Materiales de Empaque - Where to find Moving Boxes, Packing Material like Bubble Wrap, Boxes+ in Costa Rica

Moving • Packinh Materials (aka Materiales de Empaque en) in Costa Rica
is NOT an easy task to find let alone it's NOT a cheap thing to find so you might want to get creative on what you use to pack your goodies!!!!

Quiros y Retana
(2-233-0210 • 2-221-7985)

They sell packaging, or shipping supplies such as Moving • Packing Boxes (over 200 different sizes they said and if my Vicklish/translation was correct - MOST of their boxes are USED - recycled!!!! [though still not so cheap]) and other Packing Materials like Bubble Wrap (I'm not positive if they carry the "peanuts").  They have Corrugated Boxes, Rolls of Bubble Wrap, Bubble Mailers, Cardboard Boxes, Mailing Tubes, paper and Plastic Bags and LOTS more.

HOURS:  Mon.-Fri. 8am-5pm. Sat. 8am-12/noon

LOCATION:  Guadalupe - about 200 meters West of McDonalds on the North side of the street.  OR - 75 mts West of Centro Comercial de Guadalupe

MAILBOX COMPANIES
At least in the States I know Mailbox type locations often carried Packing Boxes and Supplies - like Mail Box Etc. (facebook.com/MBECostaRica  •  MBECR.com  -  Escazu, Liberia, Pavas, San Jose, San Pedro, Santa Ana, Tamarindo), JetBox and those other services (though they're usually quite expensive there).

OFFICE SUPPLY STORES
I'll bet ya that Universal and Office Depot carry some form of them (with Office Depot being the most expensive).

THINKING OUTSIDE "THE BOX"
Here are some OTHER ideas to consider to find Packing•Moving Boxes from:

Also, when I've found them before it's because I posted in various places what I was looking for (not just waiting to see what others have to offer).  The 2 BEST places I've found in Costa Rica are:

I posted my boxes on CRL and Craig's List when I moved here and someone got the WHOLE lot for a GOOD PRICE (and I let THEM break them down!!)

Maybe contact some of the Shipping Companies bringing people's things here.

How about REALTORS?  I'd seek them on Facebook or look for their websites and send them an email.

What I did when I moved from Sarasota, Florida to Costa Rica was I went around to some new developments and gave the guard a little tip to find out who was new and I gave him a flier to give to them saying I was seeking moving boxes.

Also, check out some of markets/grocery stores to see if they have anything you can have - especially sometimes some of the fruit and other boxes can be quite sturdy (get there MEGA EARLY before they break them down/cut them up!!).
