ABOUT THE LIVING LIFE IN COSTA RICA BLOG

I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.
VOLUNTEER TO HELP:
Better yet - do you have extra time on your hands & looking for a volunteer project? Since this blog is a labor of love & RARELY does anyone share a donation (even though MANY have said how much it's helped them), I could REALLY use help updating info. Spanish speakers ESPECIALLY welcome since my VicLish can be somewhat limited at times!!

INTERNATIONAL BOOK FAIR • Feria Internacional del Libro en Costa Rica 2015 - Theme - Books & Authors of the United States - September 18-27, 2015

International Book Fair • Feria Internacional del Libro en Costa Rica 2014

Each year the Costa Rica Ministerio de Cultura selects a different country to feature.
This year it's the
U.S.

The intent of these events is to recognize the U.S.•American contribution to the social, economic and cultural development of Costa Rica.  There will be live music, featured artist as well as authors for you to meet.

MY understanding is this features American authors that are living in Costa Rica and that they're expecting about 65,000 people to pass through the doors (I'm getting more details on it).  Do you know any American Authors living in Costa Rica (or at least spending LOTS of time there)???

Presented by the United States Embassy with Costa Rica

If you are an American expat who is an author, lecturer, a sculptor, musician, artist or photographer, here is your opportunity to be involved in an International Book Fair sponsored by the Costa Rica Ministry de Culture and The United States Embassy.

Each year a host country is chosen to represent their country. This year, The United States has been chosen. As a result, the Embassy is inviting American artists and writers who live in Costa Rica to participate. The event will be held in San Jose and run for ten days. The Embassy will have a booth area 50′ X 50′ located in the middle of the symposiums.

Last year the host country was Mexico and more than 65,000 attendees visited the Cultural fair. The US Embassy is looking for people who want to attend and participate in this very unique Book Fair. It will be staffed by authors, various writers, publishers, photographers, musicians and a host of other people involved in the many arts represented by American expats living here in Costa Rica. Everyone will be considered and selling your books, photos, art pieces and so forth is encouraged. Each person will have their own individual exhibit and booth. Feel free to send your name, email address and description of what your art is for consideration of a wonderful and golden opportunity to exhibit and sell your works of art.

Special reason the 15th fair international the book 2014 will be as guest country of honour to United States, leading the cultural diffusion in general and in particular with its extensive publishing of books and other printed publications.
WHAT WAS SHARED WITH ME BY ONE OF THE FEATURED AUTHORS:
Kamel Press, a book publishing company out of Chesapeake, Virginia is interested in hearing from authors who live in Costa Rica and write in the English language. If you are an author and you have wanted to be published by a publishing company, you may get your chance. Manuscripts will be reviewed by a staff editor once the submission criteria is addressed and the manuscript is submitted.

There will be a booth at the upcoming International Book Fair sponsored by The United States Embassy and the Ministry of Culture in Costa Rica.

Information about the Atenas Writer's Group, and Kamel Press will be available for any interested party. The Atenas Writer's Group will be accepting new members. 2 local authors who are published by Kamel Press will be doing book signings at the booth.

L Michael Rusin, the Author of "Avalon: The Retreat", "California's Child" and "Beyond Avalon The Retreat" will be selling copies of his books, and will be at the booth to answer questions.  During the Fair he will do a reading from each of his books as well as doing book signings.

Albert Correia, another local author will be at the same booth to answer questions, do a presentation and will be doing a book signing as well as book sales on his recent Kamel Press publication, Even In Eden. A thought provoking story about love, power and enormous wealth of families in Costa Rica. Please take the time to stop by and meet the authors and perhaps get one of their books signed by the author.
