ABOUT THE LIVING LIFE IN COSTA RICA BLOG

I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.
VOLUNTEER TO HELP:
Better yet - do you have extra time on your hands & looking for a volunteer project? Since this blog is a labor of love & RARELY does anyone share a donation (even though MANY have said how much it's helped them), I could REALLY use help updating info. Spanish speakers ESPECIALLY welcome since my VicLish can be somewhat limited at times!!

DONATE:
Has my blog helped in any way? Helped find something•brought more EASE? More exposure or business?
I welcome you to show YOUR appreciation for my efforts!

CRANBERRIES - Where can you find Cranberries or Cranberry Juice in Costa Rica

Finding Fresh or Frozen Cranberries in Costa Rica is pretty hard - EXCEPT for SOMETIMES you might get lucky around Christmas time so MY suggestion is if you REALLY LIKE Cranberries (like I do - well, mainly Cranberry Concentrate), when you see them, grab EVERY basket/bag you can get your hands on & FREEZE or Dehydrate them, or make whatever it is you're going to make with them!!

So where to find CRANBERRIES in Costa Rica?

The place most consistently I've found them at are:
AutoMercado or PriceSmart

BLADDER • URINARY TRACT INFECTIONS:
NOTE:  MANY people use Cranberry Juice to help them with Bladder•Urinary Tract Infections.  It's CRUCIAL to note that the Cranberry Juices you find in Costa Rica have a MINISCULE amount of Cranberries in them - but WORSE - they have SUGAR and sugar is HORRIBLE for a Urinary Tract•Bladder infection!!  It FEEDS on it so it CAN make it WORSE!!

LOTS OF OTHER THINGS CRANBERRIES CAN HELP WITH!!!!:

RECIPES:

Brenda on the "Tamarindo Chit Chat... about Fun, Friends and Entertainment" Facebook group shared this recipe for
CRANBERRY JUICE
Bring 2 cups cranberries in 6 cups water to a boil.
Simmer for 10 minutes (berries will split).
Drain through cheesecloth lined colander (if cheesecloth is n
ot available a stronger paper towel will work) do not squeeze berries or juice will turn cloudy.
Put strained juice back in pot add 1/2 cup sugar (adjust the sugar amount to suit your taste - up to 1 cup - or less [I'll bet you could substitute sugar for honey - or if you like it tart [like I do] - NO sugar???).
Simmer for 3 minutes.

Cool completely before putting in fridge.
