Do you have a part-time worker? Even just 1 day a week/month? Do you sometimes hire workers to come in to do a temporary job like plumbing, painting your house, etc.?
In Costa Rica YOU are SUPPOSED to have at LEAST INS insurance on them! Don't have it and you could MEGA PAY FOR IT - like the guy in the story below!!!
Also - SERIOUSLY consider paying your employees/having them hired under a SEPARATE CORPORATION - otherwise - IF there is ever a problem and the employee files a lawsuit/"Denuncio" against YOU - ya ain't leaving the country till it's lifted!!!!

A home owner who failed to acquire an insurance policy that would have cost ¢17,700 ($36) was recently ordered to make a lump sum payment of ¢1,100,000 ($2,231) and monthly payment for life of ¢203,000 ($411) to a house painter who fell from scaffolding and suffered blindness. INS offers special policies for short-term home improvement projects, and also a general RT Home plan that covers domestic workers who come less than 3 days per month.
