I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.

BOWLING ALLEYS • LANES in Costa Rica

With the opening of more and more BOWLING CENTERS around Costa Rica - it seems to be fairly popular.   Below are some details about Costa Rica's various public and private bowling alleys!

BOL CARIARI
Opened July 2011 - BOL CARIARI is Costa Rica's LARGEST BOWLING LANE (20 lanes) with state-of-the-art equipment (Brunswick Anvilane Lanes, GS 98 Pinsetters, Bowler Entertainment Automatic Scoring System and Conqueror Pro Center Management System) imported from the U.S. making it the most modern Bowling facility in Central America thanx to a $2.5 million investment by the owner Juan Jose Pinto in this 32,290 square feet facility.  They also have a LARGE SPACE Meeting Room, Bar and Restaurant. Free parking.  The have a new PRO SHOP selling all sorts of bowling paraphernalia.

LESSONS:  Saturday - 10-11:30am.  COST:  15,000-lane

BOLICHE  DENT  • Sport Bar • Restaurante


The 14 LANE, AMF sanctioned BOLICHE DENT is the OLDEST/most established public Bowling Center in Costa Rica (over 45 years) and it looks like the have LOTS of activities (see their Facebook page for the most up-to-date info!!).   POOL TABLES (2), FOOZ BALL, Restaurant, Bar.  Looks like sometimes they do "COSMIC BOWL"

HOURS:  Daily - 11am-midnight

COST:  Lane - 11,500/hour (up to 6 players).  Shoes - 950-c/pair

San Jose - Los Yoses-Barrio Dent (I’ve also seen San Pedro) 
I've seen numerous directions:
•  From the Mall of San Pedro, take the highway like you're going back/West towards San Jose and at the AM/PM Gas station turn Right.  They're up about 100 meters - on the Right side of the street.
•  125 meters North of the gas station La Favorita-Los Yoses (THIS is in their Facebook and their website)  -  and  - 
•  I’ve also seen 50 meters (1/2 block) South of the American-Costa Rican Cultural Center (on their website) -  and  - 
•  Avenida Central and Calle 23  -  and  - 
•  I’ve seen 50, 100 and also 150 meters north of the AM/PM Gas Station  -  and  - 
•   and 1 block North of the American-Costa Rican Cultural Center

This 10-lane BOWLING LANE is part of the PRIVATE Costa Rica Tennis and Sports Center Club  -  BUT - GUESTS of their HOTEL get to play for JUST $1 a GAME at their 10 lane BOWLING LANE (Elvis said that's for the lane - not per person!!!) and .50 cents/250-coloness for shoes as well as you get to use their other services that are part of the Private Tennis and Sports Center Club for free or a small fee:

FEE:  Bowling Alley +$1 game  .50-shoes (HOURS:  Mon.-Fri. 3-10pm, Sat. 10am-7pm, Sun. 11am-7pm.  They also have classes with Marie Ramirez or Alvaro Castro).  Tennis - $2/hr/court (11 professional tours - 3 covered.  HOURS: Mon.-Fri. 6am-9pm, Sat. 6am-2pm, Sun. 7am-2pm.  Classes are Mon.-Fri. 2:30-5:30pm).  Basketball - $8/hr with reservation.  Soccer field - $40/hr.  POOL TABLE - $1/hr.

The Indoor Tennis Club in Curridabat 
has an 8-LANE BOWLING ALLEY (plus 8 indoor and 3 outdoor tennis courts, an indoor and outdoor POOL, 4 indoor RACQUETBALL courts, GYM with Spinning, weights, aerobics, indoor Basketball court and Pool tables.
