I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.

ATENAS CHILI COOK-OFF BENEFIT - 2012

2014 ATENAS CHILI COOK OFF DETAILS AT



5th Annual ATENAS CHILI COOK-OFF

(NEW Vegetarian Category!!!)

WHEN:  Sunday, February 12th, 2012 - 11am to 4pm

ENTRANCE COST FOR ATTENDEES:  1,500-colones which gives you a Tasting Cup and spoon (but make sure to bring extra $$ for all the other goodies for sale & to donate!!)

WHERE:  ATENAS - on the grounds of Quinta RomaVista  - Barrio Mercedes
DIRECTIONS:  2 kms off the Monte de Aguacate (old Alajuela to Orotina highway) - follow the signs.


CHILI COMPETITORS
No entry fee for chili teams this year!  This year chili will be cooked off-site and brought to the competition and setup will begin at 10am 


In addition to some great-tasting chili, there will be:
• Live music including country and western
• All day raffle with great prizes
• Contests and games
• Beer and wine garden
• Hot dogs, chicken wings, pies and cakes, and other goodies


Last year this event had 14 chili teams competing for trophies and approximately 600 visitors.  This year they are expecting as many as 30 teams to sign up and host as many as 1,000 attendees. This is already the largest and best-attended event of its kind in Costa Rica!


As before, funds raised go to support the wonderful 
Hogar de Vida de Ninez
home for abandoned, abused and orphaned children. Located in Atenas, the home accepts children from all over the country, referred by the Child Services Administration.  Last year they raised about $3,400!!!


This event was founded by Kay's Gringo Postres
