CARRERA el CHIRRIPO RACE 2013 the 25th Anniversary CarreraChirripo.com facebook.com/pages/Carrera-Chirripó/448259171891443 (sign up for their Facebook site for pre-race hints and information) ENGLISH: This international race covers a total of 34 km / 21 miles UP UP UP THE TALLEST mountain in Costa Rica - CERRO CHIRRIPO!!  The mountain Cerro Chirripo is 3,820 meters • 12,532 feet high - which actually makes it the 38th MOST PROMINENT Peak in the WORLD.  Chirripo is located 56km•34 miles "as the crow flies" South/East of San Jose (because of the condition of the roads and highways in Costa Rica and the fact you often have to go all around and back to get places, this translates to about a 4+ hour drive because you have to first go down to San Isidro de General•Perez Zeledon - about a 3 hour drive with no accidents, traffic or fog - and then over [do NOT NOT NOT drive this main highway to get here at night as it is a VERY SCARY road at times and often foggy!!  PLEASE do NOT think I'm being paranoid on this!  They don't call it Cerro de la Muerto • "Hill of Death"d for no reason). Cerrera Chirripo starts at the 1350 meter • 4,429 feet level in the Plaza de Futbol in San Gerardo de Rivas (that's where the celebration will happen after the finish also!!), goes up to the Base Crestones and returns! The record on this race is 3 hours and 5 minutes (note that MANY people I've known that have just hiked up there usually take 2-3 days to do it so IMAGINE!!!! (so you/your lungs better be mighty fit!!) It's limited to 225 VERY FIT runners • athletes (hence why registration is so far in advance and limited with lots of restrictions!) Ellos no lo llaman Cerro de la Muerto • "Cerro de la Muerte" d sin razón). Cerrera Chirripo comienza en el metro 1350 • 4429 metros Grado en la Plaza de Futbol en San Gerardo de Rivas (que es donde está la fiesta va a pasar después de la final también!), Se acerca a los Crestones de base y vuelve! El registro en esta carrera es de 3 horas y 5 minutos (tenga en cuenta que muchas personas que he conocido que acaban subió hasta allí suelen tardar 2-3 días para hacerlo así que imagina!! (Por lo que / los pulmones mejor que sea poderoso en forma!!)
