Tattoo marathon will aid breast cancer campaign Tattoo artist will try to put 300 pink breast cancer awareness ribbons on as many bodies Saturday in a 12-hour marathon with the backing of the  Fundación Nacional de Solidaridad Contra el Cáncer de Mama. Saturday is the international day to fight breast cancer, and the 15 tattoo artists at Sailor's Grave Tattoo are volunteers. They are trying to raise at least 1.5 million colons for the cancer Hope campaign.  That's about $3,000. The campaign seeks a 5,000-colón donation per tattoo. Last year a similar 12-hour event resulted in the placing of 153 tattoos on those who sought them. The effort raised 700,000 colons then, about $1.400, said a release from the tattoo salon, which is in Heredia 100 meters west of the Catholic church in Barrio Corazón de Jesús. The rose awareness ribbon is an international symbol of support for the prevention of breast cancer and support for victims of the disease. Many persons are wearing more portable ribbons this week.
