ABOUT THE LIVING LIFE IN COSTA RICA BLOG

I (Vicki Skinner - aka "THE Sarong Goddess") created this blog in 2007 to share DETAILED Finds•Lists•Info•Events•Experiences to help bring more EASE to people living in, visiting or thinking of moving to Costa Rica since DETAILS are NOT easy to find!
I’m NOT an expert (an "expert" 2 ME knows 101%-NOT me). I believe in sharin info•helping where I can! And with over 2,200 entries, so some things might be out of date, so if you find old info PLEASE help each other by getting the updated info & sharing it with me to revise. At least you have some basic info to get you started.
VOLUNTEER TO HELP:
Better yet - do you have extra time on your hands & looking for a volunteer project? Since this blog is a labor of love & RARELY does anyone share a donation (even though MANY have said how much it's helped them), I could REALLY use help updating info. Spanish speakers ESPECIALLY welcome since my VicLish can be somewhat limited at times!!

DONATE:
Has my blog helped in any way? Helped find something•brought more EASE? More exposure or business?
I welcome you to show YOUR appreciation for my efforts!
ANY size DONATION is APPRECIATED!
(see below other ways to show your appreciation)
The easiest way is with PAYPAL - Attn: LivingLifeInCostaRica@gmail.com
(you do NOT need to have a PayPal account to do this - just a credit or debit card)
ADD INFORMATION:
Do YOU have/know of a Business•Event•News•Place•Things 4 Sale•Rent to add? Email:
LivingLifeInCostaRica@gmail.com

OTHER WAYS TO SHOW YOUR APPRECIATION FOR THIS BLOG

• APPLE LAPTOP - Do you have a Laptop you're not using? Mine recently broke so I'm using a lender. Must be new enough to run current Skypes & have an SDCard slot.
• Amazon.com or GoDaddy.com Credit•Gift Certificate (attn: SarongGoddess@gmail.com)
• Something else to share?? A gift certificate or invite for your business? I'm open!! (at times I'll add other things here that I'm seeking)

Immigration•Migracion NOW Asking for Proof CAJA is CURRENTLY PAID UP when you're RE-Entering Costa Rica

WARNING TO COSTA RICA RESIDENTS WITH a valid Cedula!!!

This is the time of year LOTS of ExPat Residents leave Costa Rica for dryer grounds.

Be forewarned that when RE-entering Costa Rica, this past week, a few ExPats with current•valid Residency•a Cedula have reported that Costa Rica Migracion • Immigrations DEMANDED that they show the officer

PROOF THEIR CAJA IS PAID UP

READ MORE BY CLICKING "READ More"

So
MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A COPY OF YOUR RECEIPT OF YOUR CURRENT CAJA PAYMENT ON YOU!!!

One guy had been away from Costa Rica for 3 months and thought he could get away with not paying for those months.

Before letting him through Migracion•Immigrations, they DEMANDED he pay ALL those back months up and the current month.

He had to get a friend to go to the bank to pay his CAJA for him and then bring the proof to the airport that the CAJA was current before they let him "enter" Costa Rica - a couple hours LATER!!!

Don't quote me but I'll bet IF he had a Costa Rica bank account and the online banking was already set up, and he had some sort of apparatus to give him internet access (laptop, tablet or SmartPhone) and they'd let him get into an area of the airport with the free WiFi (or he had a Costa Rica Datacard like Kolbi or MoviStar to give him WiFi connect for his laptop) he probably could have taken care of it right then and there himself and shown them.

As always, this IS Costa Rica, which means it will NOT happen to EVERYONE but why take the chance?!???!

Has anyone heard of anyone having this problem when LEAVING Costa Rica????  Where they're demanding that Residents have PROOF that their CAJA is paid up???

NOTE:  These incidents that I've had reported to me happened at SJO Airport's Migracions.

(THANX Mel Goldberg!!)

I'd love to hear more details on why?? SOOOO MANY people are leaving - like nothing I've seen in my 8-1/2 years living here!!! It's sad - ESPECIALLY for the Tica's that rely on tourists/expats purchasing their things which helps support their families!
